REVIEW: Soap Square Red Apple With Shea Butter Soap

Sunday, May 22, 2016

Hello lovelies!! Ever since I switched to handmade soaps there's been no looking back. Commercial soaps however attractive they may be or how much the brands claim them to be nourishing and great for the skin they don't appeal me any longer. I love trying handmade soaps from new brands based in India. When I was approached by Ms Mahima Dissoria of Soap Square to try their soaps, I readily agreed. Soap Square is a Delhi based brand spearheaded by mother-daughter duo Mrs Renu and Ms. Mahima Dissoria. The duo painstakingly handcrafts soaps, lotions bars etc and they also accept custom orders. To know more about my experience with the soap, keep reading!

About the brand:

We are extremely careful of what we put into our bodies but not of what we put on them. It is time we gave our skin the kind of gentle care and nourishment it deserves.

We would like to take this opportunity to invite you, with great joy and pride, to Soap Square which guarantees the best quality herbal, handmade soaps.

These soaps are handcrafted with careful consideration for your skin's needs using essential oils, glycerin and natural ingredients. These vegetarian soaps contain real fruit extracts and no parabens or petrochemicals were used in their production.

You can choose from the wide variety of 100% herbal soaps to pamper your skin with! :)

About the product:

Apples improve the appearance of skin. They strengthen collagen and elastin in skin, negating the visible signs of aging. This helps in reduction of fine lines or wrinkles. The added glycerine in this soap further helps to soften the skin.

My Experience:

Handmade soaps are very very different from commercial soaps. They not only look different but the composition, soap texture are completely different. I have dry skin and handmade soaps have proved to be my saviour.

Soap Square Red Apple With Shea Butter Soap smells delicious. Or maybe beyond delicious. It smells exactly like those yummy and juicy red apples! The bar looks lovely even though it's a simple pink coloured square shaped bar. I used this soap every day for more than a week before producing the review. The soap lathers mildly, washes off easily and cleans the skin really well without stripping it off it's natural oil due to the presence of shea butter. The soap is supposed to be used like any other soap. The soap deodorises the skin rather well. I could smell the lovely aroma of juicy red apples for a couple of minutes on my skin even after stepping out of the bathroom till it completely faded. Another thing that I like about the soap is that it does not melt easily however it's recommended to dry handmade soaps between uses to increase longevity, I would also recommend cutting the soap into two halves and use the other half later. Since all their soaps are devoid of harsh chemicals the soap is great for children too as it would not irritate their delicate skin. The product stands true to some of it's claims like it does soften the skin however I cannot comment on the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles claim as I've none.

The brand has a great variety of soaps to choose from and since they are handmade and hand cut the shape and weight may differ. The price may seem a bit too much but because the quality of the soap is good and it's handmade using natural ingredients only so I believe the price is justified.

To conclude, I really really liked the soap because it cleans the skin without drying it and the smell is just amazing. And it's a perfect soap for summers.

Pros:
  • Handmade, natural and cruelty free
  • Smells amazing! I love it.
  • Cleans the skin well, washes off easily.
  • Doesn't strip the skin off it's natural oils.
  • Doesn't melt easily.
  • Suitable for all skin types.
  • Suitable for children too.
  • A perfect summer soap.
  • The smell stays put on the skin for some minutes before fading completely.
  • Stands true to some of it's claims.
Cons:
  • Packaging - I feel it could be better.
  • Availability - Not for me though.
Will I recommend: Of course! If you are looking to purchase handmade soaps and do not know where to start, give Soap Square soaps a shot.
