Saturday, August 20, 2016Holiday Pomegranate Soap by Marjees |
Hi, folks. Today, I am going to share my thoughts on the most gorgeous looking handcrafted soap that I’ve used so far - the Holiday Pomegranate Soap by Marjees Handcrafted Soaps.
About the Brand:
Co-founded by the concerned parents of two sons, who wanted their children to use natural and eco-friendly products, free from parabens, sulphates, phthalates and any other harmful additives, Marjees is a natural skin care and hair care brand.
Brand Claims about the Product:
“Our cold process soaps have the highest quality, naturally occuring ingredients without the harmful effects of commercially produced soaps.
Don’t eat me! We come up with something fun for everybody... Our Handcrafted cupcake soaps natural soap comes in three flavors: Caramel, French Lavender and Holiday Pomegranate. Your toilet will smell divine as long as they are there.”
Key Ingredients & Their Benefits:
Rice bran oil, Coconut oil, Corn oil, Fragrance oil, Distilled Water, Colorants and Lye.
Rice Bran Oil:
The main benefit of rice bran oil to the skin is its wonderful deeply moisturising capability. This is due to its combination of vitamin E and fatty acids, which go deep into skin to improve its ability to hold onto hydration. It is light and penetrates easily, so it’s not likely to increase the oiliness of your skin. With all its natural components, rice bran oil is considered an anti-aging secret by Japanese women. The natural vitamin E plus vitamin B help increase elasticity while maintaining hydration, which helps in the reduction of the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Rice bran oil has a slight anti-melanin property that helps in protecting skin from sun damage and brightens the skin. The presence of antioxidants like beta-carotene and lycopene in this oil protect the skin from free radical damage and the enzymes like CoQ10 infuse the skin with active components that help in maintaining its youthful glow. Coconut Oil: Coconut oil has its own antimicrobial properties, which help keep skin care formulas bug-free, without harsh chemical preservatives. It is rich in natural antioxidants... which help protect your skin from free radical damage, preserving a more youthful look. They also to help reduce the redness and limit the damage of sun exposure. Coconut oil is a good source of vitamins A, C, and E, all of which have antioxidant capabilities as well as moisturizing and brightening properties. Vitamin C also helps to maintain collagen production, reducing skin sagging and fading fine lines. (x)
Corn Oil: Corn oil can be applied on skin like a massage oil. It is a wonderful emollient, even though not quite as good as the well-known massage oils just like olive, coconut or even sweet almond. Unrefined corn oil enhances skin functioning due to the existence of linoleic acid and vitamin E within it. Corn oil is really a gentle oil and one may use it as the base oil for lip balms, salves, creams and night oils. Corn oil is all about 59 % linoleic acid and due which it absorbs rapidly into the skin. (x)
Fragrance Oils: A natural fragrance oil is actually an essential oil which is diluted in some carrier oil. Fragrance oils are prepared in various ways, but their main purpose is to add a unique smell (aroma) to the environment. These oils may be used in soaps, shampoos, scented candles, vaporizers, fireplace, bathroom and any other place at home. (x)

My Thoughts:
The Holiday Pomegranate Soap by Marjees is one of the three variants of the Cupcake soaps by Marjees, the other two being Caramel and French Lavender. As far as the packaging of the soap is concerned, it came in a plastic wrap tied with a pink ribbon. Since the whole package was carefully wrapped, the shape of the soap remained intact and it reached me in a perfect condition. Although the label of the soap was missing, but Maryam was sweet enough to share all the details.
Cutting this soap into two halves was the toughest decision I had to take. Saying that it is the most gorgeous looking soap of all the handmade soaps by Pakistani brands that I have ever used won’t be an overstatement. If the elegance of this soap is not enough to mesmerise you, the sweet, candy-like fragrance of the soap will surely make you swoon.
Having used it for almost a month or so, I have found the soap to be fairly moisturising. It has a creamy feel to it, however, it is not prone to melting quickly. The Holiday Pomegranate soap lathers decently, and cleanses the skin thoroughly, leaving it soft, smooth and supple. Enriched with the moisturizing properties of Corn, Rice Bran, and Coconut oils, this soap does not strip the skin off the essential moisture. Being somebody who has an extremely dry skin type, I do not have to worry about my skin feeling tight or dry post washing, which is a blessing indeed. Nevertheless, I do feel the need to follow it up with the application of a light moisturiser. It has not only become a skin ritual but a matter of personal preference for me now, so no complaints. People with normal to (moderately) dry, combination or oily skin might not need to moisturise the skin after using this soap. The refreshing fragrance of the soap lingers on even after bathing.
For a beautifully handcrafted soap made with completely natural ingredients, the Holiday Pomegranate Soap by Marjees is a very reasonably priced soap with a refreshing fragrance and a buttery soft texture, which leaves the skin squeaky clean.
Pro Tips for Storage & Use:
- Cut the soap into two halves vertically so that each half becomes flat from one side, making it handier to use.
- Use a loofah for producing more lather.
- Keep the soap in a water draining soap dish with slots or holes in order to keep it dry between uses.
Yays:
- Beautifully handcrafted.
- Reasonably priced.
- Cruelty-free.
- Sweet fragrance.
- Free from toxic chemicals and preservatives.
- Enriched with the goodness of natural ingredients and oils.
- Adequately moisturising.
- Leaves the skin thoroughly clean.
- Long lasting if used wisely.
Nays:
- The label was missing.
Price & Availability:

Final Verdict:
Two words - Pure love.
